Sousanna Magoni

Painter + visual Artist

Born in 1982 in Stuttgart, Germany, with roots in Serres, Greece, Sousanna Magoni is a visual artist whose practice is grounded in painting and interdisciplinary inquiry.
In 2017, she was admitted to the School of Fine Arts at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh), where she completed her studies in the 3rd Painting Studio under the mentorship of Giorgos Tsakiris, Vassilis Vasilakakis, and Stavros Panagiotakis.
Magoni also holds a degree in Media, Communication, and Culture from Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences, as well as a diploma in Professional Journalism with a specialization in Advertising. Her academic background in communication informs the conceptual and narrative dimensions of her artistic practice.

Sousanna Magoni develops a minimal, atmospheric painting language in which the surface becomes a field of memory and transformation. Positioned between abstraction and landscape, her works evoke eroded horizons, aqueous traces, and fragile architectural textures. Through restrained gesture and subtle tonal shifts, she creates quiet, suspended spaces that unfold gradually. Texture operates as evidence of sediment, humidity, or passage — while negative space intensifies a sense of stillness. Her practice explores fragility and erosion, proposing painting as an experience of presence, proximity, and contemplative depth.

Sousanna Magoni has presented her work in exhibitions across Greece, participating most recently in Phos Yfes Roes (Light Textures Flows) at NEZER COLLECTIVE in Athens and in Mini Art at Gallery ARMOS in Serres (2025). In 2023, she held a solo exhibition, Ex’ Epafis (In Close Contact), at the historic Papavasileiou House in Serres. Her work has also been featured in the Graduates Exhibition hosted by the Independent Authority for Public Revenue in Athens and at the Mask Research Center of Giorgis Melikis (2022). Earlier presentations include Katharsis at Bey Hamam in Thessaloniki (2020), as well as participation in The Genti Koule Project at the Heptapyrgion Fortress, the 216th “Katachrypsi” by Dimitris Alithinos at the School of Fine Arts in Thermi, Family Otherwise at Warehouse B’ of the Port of Thessaloniki, and an Educational Exhibition at the foyer of Astéria Theatre in Serres (2019).
