Kolazista
KOLAZISTA (aka Panos Asimakopoulos, b.Athens, 1977) studied Graphic Design at AKTO (1995–1999) and completed a BA (Hons) in Applied Arts at Middlesex University, London. His expanded education includes seminars in psychology, cyanotype, costume design, and silkscreen printing – elements that continue to inform the conceptual and material depth of his work. Working under the alias KOLAZISTA, Asimakopoulos has developed a distinctive practice centered on collage as both method and philosophy. Moving fluidly between digital compositions and handcrafted mixed-media works, he combines fabric, ink, acrylics, charcoal, layered textures, and three-dimensional elements to construct visually striking, emotionally charged imagery. His work balances precision and spontaneity, merging graphic clarity with raw material presence.
Rooted in an exploration of the human condition, his compositions navigate fragmentation, memory, and psychological tension through deconstruction and subtle surrealism. His works have been featured in Athens Voice and SOUL magazine, and selected pieces have appeared as book covers for Epekeina Publications, including titles by Henri Bergson and Stefano Bolognini. He has collaborated with fashion retail spaces, translating his visual language into limited-edition wearable silkscreen pieces.
Asimakopoulos has participated in numerous group exhibitions and digital gallery presentations in Germany and has presented two solo exhibitions in Athens at Art Project Space and Melanithros Gallery.
His recent body of work expands into Visual Sketchbook Collages -mixed-media interventions on vintage books- bridging fine art practice with accessible, collectible formats. At the core of his work lies an interest in the space between chance and control: the moment before the image fully resolves. Rather than delivering fixed narratives, his works create atmospheric environments that invite projection, introspection, and personal interpretation. Bold yet introspective, his visual language positions collage as a contemporary medium capable of both conceptual depth and strong aesthetic presence.
